Water Now 2016 Social Media Voice Tops 140 Million In Support Of Un World Water Day

NEW YORK, NY – February 24, 2016 – The Water Now clean water campaign to celebrate UN Water World Water Day has now generated an overall social media voice (Twitter, Facebook and Google+ followers) of 203 million people. Thanks to the support of UN Water, Sesame Street, Pharrell Williams, Pitbull, Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Patricia Heaton, Natasha Bedingfield, Foster the People, Pentatonix, Joel Osteen, Debbie Macomber and more, this social media campaign to promote the life-saving work of World Vision water will launch on March 10th with an initial social media blitz, and then culminate with a final global barrage of social media posts on March 22nd – UN World Water Day.

“I’ve visited villages in Africa and witnessed first hand how World Vision works with communities to transform lives with clean water.” said Patricia Heaton, Emmy winner and co-star of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’ “So I’m thrilled to donate my social media voice to support Water Now to benefit the life saving work of World Vision water.”

In an effort to further promote UN World Water Day and raise funds to support the critical work of World Vision water, the largest supplier of clean water in the developing world today, an exciting Water Now Sweepstakes has been created with Captivate.org – where two unique grand prizes will be offered.

The first Grand Prize will be a “Trip of a Lifetime to Kenya,” where a winner and a guest will be whisked away to Kenya on April 16th for a week long experience in which they’ll witness first hand World Vision’s work to help solve the global water crisis, guided by world renowned water expert Dr. Greg Allgood, vice president of water at World Vision. They will also experience a once in a lifetime thrill by visiting the Ambroseli National Park for a safari where they’ll encounter some of the largest elephants in Africa, and visit with a Maasai community.

The second grand prize is being sponsored and hosted by Debbie Macomber, the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author with more than 200 million copies of her books in print worldwide. A longtime supporter of World Vision, Debbie will host the winner and a friend to join her in her luxury suite at CenturyLink Field in Seattle to watch one of the most anticipated NFL Games of the 2016 football season – the Seattle Seahawks vs. the Carolina Panthers. The winner will also enjoy VIP field access. “I’ve seen the amazing impact that World Vision is having on families by providing clean water” said Debbie Macomber. “I’m thrilled to support Water Now to benefit World Vision’s water efforts and to donate 2 tickets to join me at my suite at CenturyLink Field in the fall.”

All people have to do to enter to win these grand prizes and purchase a host of other unique items – in support of World Vision water, is to go to captivate.org and enter.

“In addition to donating one’s social media followers into the campaign and entering the Sweepstakes to win amazing prizes, every direct donation of $25 will be matched by the generosity of our longtime supporters Dana and David Dornsife in order to provide $50, which is sufficient to provide one person in Africa with access to clean water and all its benefits.” said Allgood.

To be part of the Water Now initiative, all the public has to do is go to causeflash.org and lend their own social media voices to the campaign. It is anticipated that Water Now will again be the largest celebration of UN World Water Day; a day supported by its 193 member states and celebrated around the globe on March 22.
